The review did not find clear moderation by rest duration, posture, luminance, or whether eyes were open or closed. Quietness may matter more than an optimized setup.

What this may mean for work.
After a dense class, strategy session, or deliberate study block, resist treating the next empty minute as a slot for feeds and messages. A low-stimulation transition is a plausible way to respect the learning you just did.

Add a quiet landing
After two sessions, spend ten minutes sitting or walking without a screen, audio, or new reading. After two comparable sessions, resume normal input. The next day, recall the main ideas before checking notes and compare completeness.
Where the claim stops.
- The studies are largely laboratory-style memory experiments.
- Older adults showed larger benefits than younger adults in this analysis.
- A meta-analysis can describe an average effect without settling its mechanism.
